Random locker searches.

Dear School Board,

The situation concerning the random locker and book bag searches is unfair for the children. As quoted by anonymous," Learning without liberty is learning nothing." If the search is issued, then all of the students would have lost the liberty of having a locker, and a loss of dignity, that was gained with having the responsibility of having our own locker. There would be many bad consequences upon issuing the searches, including having some items of the children being knocked over, broken, lost, or stolen. Another bad consequence would be the students' personal 'life' being invaded by the school faculty. And lastly, the searches would take off time of the teacher's day. The locker and book bag searches would not be a wise choice.

When the searchers are inspecting the lockers for paraphernalia, weapons, etc. there could be some loose items in the child's locker. The searcher can knock over things inside of the locker and may break things also.  The child's item can or cannot be replaced. The searchers could also lose some of the children's items, and they would not be able to find it. Also, if the searchers leave the locks open by mistake, then other students could steal the lock, flip the lock, or actually steal the things inside of the locker. The searchers will probably try their hardest to be careful, but they can make a mistake, and lose a student's one most precious item. The search will just be a burden to carry unnecessarily.

If a student brings their, say, iPod to school one day, then the searchers can look through it, and the student may not be so happy about that. The searchers have approval from a higher seat in the school but they don't necessarily have approval from the actual student who's locker they will be searching through. The searching will be invading the student's personal 'life' by having their belongings inspected without their consult. They may have good intentions, but they are not really having good feedback. The searches are not being very respective of the student's privacy.

When the teachers are doing the searching, then doing just that will take about five to ten minutes out of their day. The teachers will have to stop what they are doing to go search one or two random lockers. Te children they were teaching would have to wait longer for he or she to return. They would most likely do it when the children are at work, but if they finish, what are they to do? The idea of searches will make not only children unhappy, but teachers alike, because they now have less time for the lessons they had to teach.

The locker and book bag searches would not be a wise choice. First, because the searchers can be a bit clumsy with the students' belongings. Two, because the students may not want the searchers snooping around their locker. And three, because it is mostly a waste of time for the teachers. The searches would just be a nuisance, and not many people would be happy.
