How I felt... About NJASK

NJASK was a very... well, boring experience. Yes, I know that 'OH! It is for your own good young pupil' and, yes. I know the truth. You don't mean to bore us to death, you only want to get halfway. Well, even that is lethal. So, the English portion of the NJASK was the harder half of the assessment. It may have been a little bit more tolerable, but it hurt my hand because of what seemed to be ENDLESS writing. It was more tolerable though because it was better to use my imagination to write. There were a lot more reasons as to why the NJASK stunk, but I won't be a whiner, so I'll leave it at that.

My Essay (NJASKprep)

Liliana Garcia
“Hayate! Ichi! Hurry up! We’re going to be late to school,” screamed Chibi. Hayate, Ichigo, and Chibi were the best of friends that would always stick together. “You don’t want to be late again do you?” she said with that tone where she knew that the three of them were probably going to get in trouble.
“Calm down Chibi,” said Hayate with a yawn, “we won’t be late.” Hayate was running towards the tow girls when they arrived.
“See! We told you Chibi!” said Ichigo with a grin. They ran into class and sat down.
“Hey, guys? You know what’s coming up right,” asked Chibi, “you wouldn’t forget… Would you?” Hayate and Ichigo looked at her with mischievous smiles.
“Of course not Chibi,” the two said in unison, “it’s your birthday! How could we forget that?”Chibi stared at them and smiled.
“I’m glad you guys didn’t,” said Chibi, giggling along with her two friends.
After a few days, Ichigo and Hayate decided to plan a surprise party for Chibi. The party was two weeks from then, so they had a while to prepare.
“There should be lots of pink,” announced Ichigo, “she’s a girly-girl so she must like pink!”
“No! No! Chibi would like purple,” argued Hayate, “she’s not that much of a girl.” They feuded amongst themselves for a while, and then settled on red. Before they knew it, they had a list of things they wanted to buy. The only problem was… would she like it? They spent up a lot of time thinking if they should, and then the day was suddenly upon them.
They were at Ichigo’s house to talk about what would happen. Then they realized what time it was.
“Oh gosh. Look how late it is already. We’re just lucky that she has soccer practice,” muttered Hayate. Ichigo let out a groan and flopped onto her the bed. She sighed and sat up. She made a face that indicated that she was thinking hard.
“She won’t like it,” moaned Ichigo. She was frowning at Hayate complaining.
“Well, I guess we just have to see her reaction,” said Hayate. They put up the decorations and waited with all of the lights off. They were sweating a lot, and then the door opened.
“SURPRISE!!!” screamed Hayate. “Ah. Um surprise.” Everyone was laughing and so was Chibi.
“Wow guys! This is so cool! I love red!” said Chibi. Hayate and Ichigo sighed with relief and hugged Chibi. They had a great time and were really happy that day.

As stated by J.K. Rowling

In this world, there are two main choices. There is the choice between the right things in life, and the easy things in life. As J.K. Rowling stated, "We must all face the choice between what is right and what is easy." When we face a choice, there is usually a right choice and an easy choice. The right choice will probably be much more difficult, but the results will be better than the easier choice, where it may be bad and not too great results.

When I come to face a choice, I would probably choose the one that is right. I would probably be very tempted to choose whichever is easier, but I know it would be wrong. When I was much younger, I was playing a game. I was choosing sides and we were just getting started when one of the younger children asked if they could choose. I really just wanted to say no and be done with it. But instead, I said they could. It would have been much easier if I had just said no, but instead I did what was right and said yes.

Many historical figures had to make a choice between right and easy, long before we were even born, but we  manage to leave a little space in our lives to remember how they made the right choice. Take Martin Luther King  Jr. for example. He could have just sat by and watched all of the segregation in the nation, but he didn't. He sacrificed all he had for people he probably didn't know.  He even sacrificed his life to us.

All beings only have one chance in life, but there will be many times when they have a choice. If they make the right choice, then the world would be  a better place.

Random locker searches.

Dear School Board,

The situation concerning the random locker and book bag searches is unfair for the children. As quoted by anonymous," Learning without liberty is learning nothing." If the search is issued, then all of the students would have lost the liberty of having a locker, and a loss of dignity, that was gained with having the responsibility of having our own locker. There would be many bad consequences upon issuing the searches, including having some items of the children being knocked over, broken, lost, or stolen. Another bad consequence would be the students' personal 'life' being invaded by the school faculty. And lastly, the searches would take off time of the teacher's day. The locker and book bag searches would not be a wise choice.

When the searchers are inspecting the lockers for paraphernalia, weapons, etc. there could be some loose items in the child's locker. The searcher can knock over things inside of the locker and may break things also.  The child's item can or cannot be replaced. The searchers could also lose some of the children's items, and they would not be able to find it. Also, if the searchers leave the locks open by mistake, then other students could steal the lock, flip the lock, or actually steal the things inside of the locker. The searchers will probably try their hardest to be careful, but they can make a mistake, and lose a student's one most precious item. The search will just be a burden to carry unnecessarily.

If a student brings their, say, iPod to school one day, then the searchers can look through it, and the student may not be so happy about that. The searchers have approval from a higher seat in the school but they don't necessarily have approval from the actual student who's locker they will be searching through. The searching will be invading the student's personal 'life' by having their belongings inspected without their consult. They may have good intentions, but they are not really having good feedback. The searches are not being very respective of the student's privacy.

When the teachers are doing the searching, then doing just that will take about five to ten minutes out of their day. The teachers will have to stop what they are doing to go search one or two random lockers. Te children they were teaching would have to wait longer for he or she to return. They would most likely do it when the children are at work, but if they finish, what are they to do? The idea of searches will make not only children unhappy, but teachers alike, because they now have less time for the lessons they had to teach.

The locker and book bag searches would not be a wise choice. First, because the searchers can be a bit clumsy with the students' belongings. Two, because the students may not want the searchers snooping around their locker. And three, because it is mostly a waste of time for the teachers. The searches would just be a nuisance, and not many people would be happy.

School Uniforms

Dear Superintendent O'Malley,

"Conform and be dull," is a famous quote form J. Frank Doble. The subject of argument is whether we should issue a system of uniform or not. Having the children wear uniforms is not a good idea.Uniforms cost too much money for the parents and prevent children from expressing themselves. They may also be uncomfortable.
Uniforms are not a good thing to have in school because they are very expensive. They are because parents have to buy the uniforms and outside clothes. The parents also have to do laundry more often. When parents buy the uniform, they must buy those and outside clothes, as uniforms are only for school, and are not appropriate casual attire. If children have the uniform they have to do more laundry than usual because you only have two or three pairs rather than have 15 to 16 pairs of clothes where parents can wash a lot in a short amount of time. The parents may spend less money on name-brand clothes that the children want for school. But, the children may want the expensive clothes for outside of school. If we have uniforms, then the economy will get worse bit by bit because we are spending a lot more money instead of saving money.

If children wear uniforms they can't wear what they want to wear. They won't be able to wear their favorite shirt or their most comfortable pants. Kids will have to dress accordingly following a strict dress code. Uniforms also have kids wearing the exact same thing as everyone else. Uniforms won't let them be unique and different, they will make everyone look the same. The uniform policy prevents kids from teasing others about their clothes being more expensive, but this rarely ever happens because many children wear similar name-brand clothing. Uniforms are not so great because kids cannot exercise their freedom as America's children.

Uniforms not only are expensive and prevent uniqueness, the also may be uncomfortable. Uniforms probably won't be children's top pick for most comfortable clothes in their closet, and they probably won't favor having to wear them everyday until they graduate. The uniform may be itchy where you usually just have a short sleeve on, but the uniform requires a long sleeve. That may not be so comfortable for most children. There is also the problem where the children grow out of their uniforms, but the parent can't afford another uniform. The child would then have to wear the same uniform that is too small for them. The sizes may range from all sizes, but children grow all of the time and the economy right now is not good. If children are uncomfortable in school, that would be a problem.

Uniforms cost a lot of money and prevent children to express themselves and may be uncomfortable. The uniforms are expensive themselves and add onto the casual attire, they keep kids from being unique and different, and they might be uncomfortable for those who are not used to wearing what is necessary for the uniform. They may seem good to parents and teachers, but they are sucking the money right out of your wallet along with your uniqueness and comfort.

Sincerely,

Liliana Garcia

My Essay

The Colr Brush is the one product that lets you paint in style. You will love this product because it is easy and fun! You will also love the Colr Brush because the colors are bright, vivid and beautiful. It’s no ordinary brush either! Everyone loves the Colr Brush and everyone uses the Colr Brush because it’s extraordinary!
The Colr Brush is a great product. You will love it because it is easy to use. You don’t need to dip and re-dip the paint brush in water over and over again because there is a small button where you press it and water squirts out; much like the paint does.  You can also mix the colors right onto the brush after letting the paint out. There is also a small lock button where you can prevent future mistakes. You press the button and other buttons won’t activate until you unlock it.
The Colr Brush colors are vivid and bright. They are handmade by our manufacturers and are packed individually. The brush hairs are made from only the finest goat hairs. The tips are removable and you can buy them separately.
The Colr Brush is no ordinary brush at all. You can actually squirt paint onto the brush, lock it then unlock it, and wash it out in a matter of seconds. You can also take it to go with you anywhere with the paint fresh ready to paint. The Colr Brush overrides other art brushes. It is simply extraordinary.
Everyone loves and uses the Colr Brush. The product is great for kids and adults. It’s great for kids because it’s non-toxic and plain fun. It’s not as messy as other brushes because one touch of a button gives you the right amount so it won’t drip. Adult artists love it too because of how handy it is.
Everyone loves the Colr Brush and uses it. They do because it is easy to use, the colors are beautiful and it’s no ordinary brush at all. The Colr Brush is the right brush for everyone and anyone.

The Commercial casting!

These past few weeks were for us to work on our persuasive skills. We worked on how to make an ad to persuade consumers to buy our product. We worked on what to do to make a full commercial to include what we learned about persuasion styles. Some things I liked about this unit were how we got to make an ad about what product we were making. We got to make it out of scratch and color it ourselves, and that was fun and easy. Another thing I liked about the unit was making the commercial. We got to make the commercial how we wanted to. One thing I had learned about myself from the unit is that I need to learn to act! I need to know what to do next when recording and I need to try to memorize my lines when we are going to start. My goals for next time I write are to try and put more emphasis on the product. The overall project was easy and fun, and it was a great learning experience!

Persuading Essay

I am representing my company Art Over the World, and I have a new product called the Colr Brush. The commercial for the Colr Brush would be good for right after the 3:00 news. I think that it would be more appropriate after the news because at three o'clock is when children come out of school. The Colr Brush paint is non-toxic and safer for children than any other existing paints. The product appeals more to younger consumers more than older.  The Colr Brush is a brush that has buttons where you press them and fresh paint squirts onto the brush. There is a small button where you can have the buttons locked so if you press a button by accident paint doesn't come out. There is also a button where you press it and water cleans the brush, so you're ready to paint right away! It is much easier than having to dip it in water over and over again. I think it would be a great thing if you put it on.

'You're Not You When You're Hungry' AD

There is a variety of commercials and ads for a variety of companies and manufacturers. We see them all of the time on the TV, on the computer and on the radio. I don't particularly like commercials but some are humorous and fun to see. One in particular is a Snickers™ commercial. Snickers™ has put on many commercials and most of them are very funny and the one I like most is one where there is a football game going on and the person playing is hungry and gets cranky.
What happens is that the two teams are playing in the introduction and Betty White is playing the cranky old woman inside of the player. She is playing with the other boys and tries to catch the ball but ends up getting tackled and shoved onto the ground. Then the team meets up and start arguing as to why he is acting like that. A girl then calls to him and gives him a Snickers™. She then asks if he feels better and him in his not-hungry-or-cranky form says he is okay. He is then able to play but then yet another player begins to feel hungry and cranky. He gets tackled and says,"That hurts!" Then the Snickers™ logo comes up and it says "Snickers, you're not you when you're hungry."

If you want to see the commercial, go to Snickers Commercial Game (on youtube) to see it.

The college and career lessons.

In the past month of the school year, I have learned many things from my English teacher. We did a small thing called college and career unit. We learned about first how our high school experience would affect our college and career life. We learned about what we would be studying in college and where we expected to go. We had to do many worksheets for the college part. After the college bit, we graduated and went in search for jobs. We had learned about how our interview should go and then we actually got interviewed by our principal. It was hard work, but now at least I know how to manage my future.

My Mother and Her Influences

Many children look up to someone. They may look up to their favorite cartoon character or a real hero. Maybe even someone from their family. In my case I look up to someone in my family. The person I look up to is my mother. My mother has gone through 25 more years of life compared to me. She has gone through what I only hope, doubt and don't want to happen to me. She has also gone through two surgeries to help her arthritis.
She is not only a woman with many hardships but also a good influence on me. She has influenced me to never give up and that I can get through anything! She has also shown me that if you work hard you can achieve your goals in life. For me, I hope to be a chef, but I can only be a good chef if I work hard towards my dream. She has influenced me to feel for family and that family is important. One day, I would like to have a nice family that will be healthy and for us to be living a great life. In order to have a good healthy life, my mother has also influenced me not to become a smoker or a drinker. She has never smoked in her life and doesn't drink at all. She says it is bad for your health and you can get lung cancer from smoking.
I hope that my influences from her will help me in the future. With these lessons, I can live a happy life without pain or failure, and it will be worth all of the hard work and determination.

The Way We Get Information of Today.

Today, we have all kinds of information being shared with the nation with the help of technology. But, are all of the statements true? We younger beings of the world have always been able to get answers on the internet available for everyone to see, but some people think that lies are put on the Web marked as true.Websites like Wikipedia can let users change the information to their liking, and the information could be incorrect. There are also search engines that accept false information without actually looking through the passages or images given. The information can be right, but they could be wrong not knowing it. So, the way we get information today has been changed over the generations, and I think that it is not helping our learning.

Welcome Ms.Caroll!!!

Hi Ms. Caroll! My name is Liliana Garcia, but you can just call me Lili ✿◕ ‿ ◕✿ . I am 12 years old and I was really excited when I first met you. I wanted you to know a couple of things about me! Last year I was in Washington Elementary School. I love to read, draw and sleep; so you might see me doodling or reading while class is going on (sorry it's a habit ≧ω≦. Now I'm reading a book called Bullyville).
I really like middle school so far... aside from the drama, the classwork, the homework and all of the other problematic things in middle school. In English, I like how when we write, we can always express ourselves in our writing (even though our writing turns into a masterpiece when the teacher edits it o.O). What I don't like about English is all of the work we have to do. There's tons more homework compared to last year! I consider myself a good writer, even though others might think otherwise. Even though I (think I) am a good writer, I do not do well in the clickers quizzes. The clickers are what we use for the Smartboard to take tests or quizzes. We have been using it more often but I have quite a problem with them. I personally don't like them all that much, but I guess I just have to deal with it. I actually am really liking the homeroom class I am in now. I think all of my classmates are very nice and fun, so it makes it a little more tolerable every Monday morning.
That is another thing I don't like about school... MONDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Monday would be a whole lot more fun if school hadn't ruined it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(╥﹏╥) I know that school is necessary, you need it to get a good career, blah blah blah, and some more blahs. In English class, what we usually do is just do the daily quote and the questions that are set out for us. Then, we go over the answers and then we do whatever it is we have to do. Then (my favorite part of the period...) we leave. Then... some more torture. Period two. So, that's basically what I'm like and what we do in class. Hope you come to like me

My Career Goals

Almost everyone has a plan for their future. They may want to apply for a certain college, or apply for many colleges. Maybe even skip college. There could be a certain job they want to have, or they could not want to have a job. They may want a certain number of children, and a specific type of mate. I can relate to having all of those hopes and dreams, and hoping to fulfill all of my dreams, as many of you are also.

I have a specific college in mind. I may not get into this college, but it's worth a try. My mother went to Manhattan College, as I wish to in the near future. As I said before, I may not get into this college so I look to apply to as many colleges as needed. I hope to obtain a Masters Degree, and major in the Fine Arts department. I know it will be hard, but that is what makes it all the more exciting!

As for my career, I would like to be a chef specializing in pastry food items. I know being able to cook pastries will be hard, but I want to be able to try Home EC in High School. This way, I will be able to make desserts from scratch and practice for the future. I will try to be a helper or assistant in a local pastry shop. I will try to do all of this with a family. I wish to have a wonderful family including a husband and three kids with  us to be living in a comfortable two-story home. I hope that all of my family is healthy and wealthy and living a good life. From now to the future, I hope to be able to work hard and meet my expectations. I will try and try!

My New Year's Resolution

Last year was a good year for some.  For others it was not.  Like me, some were poor at school and did not get what they had expected on their report card.  I, for my New Year’s resolution, made a promise that I would get straight A’s for the rest of the school year. I did because last report card, I had only gotten one A, and it was an A-. All the rest were B’s. I will accomplish this goal by studying more and paying more attention in class.

Christmas Songs: Too Early, or Just Right?

Everyone loves those religious carols that play every year before the holidays on every radio channel. But some people don't agree. Some people say that the Christmas songs come to quickly or that they should be after the end of November or at least after Thanksgiving. Some say that the songs come at  just the right time. A very recent poll says most people say they come way too early; what would you say?

Most people would love to listen to the jolly holiday carols but they come way too early! The songs are coming on the radio right before Thanksgiving! The songs are meant for Christmas so they should be nearer to Christmas. They are called the 25 days of Christmas, not the 30 days of Christmas! And they certainly are not part of Thanksgiving, so they shouldn't put them on the radio the day before Thanksgiving, or the day right after! They should wait until the next month comes! "They are WAY TOO EARLY!" says local 36 year old worker and mother Mariana Arias, "They don't even let Thanksgiving end before they play them!". Many people think the same but some think differently.

The merciful tunes that play on the radio are favored by a big group of American Christians. The songs on the radio play again and again and some people love that. The songs played have come too early for some but for others it comes just right. "They come just right." says Parthi Dasdondi, an 11 year old school girl from the Herbert Hoover middle school, "I think so because they play in the middle of November and December, as they should. They also get you into the Christmas feel". She and others think that the Christmas songs should come sooner than after December.

The debate has included any person who wants to. I find this argument very interesting, and many think so also.

Letter to Santa

I know how busy you are in these upcoming holidays, but I was wondering if you could spare a few minutes to read this letter. I am fully aware that you are busy tending to the toys that the good children get, and was wondering if you could give me a special item I have been longing for. I have been wanting to get an iPad for myself. And as a foolish way to show I am a good child, my mother would also love one. She is hardworking and is the best mother anyone could ask for.
I know that the iPad is a personal item, and that I would probably be very selfish with it, as I am now with the iPod. I am also fully aware that it would not be a help to any others but me. I would just like this for me, and afterwards I can give my iPod to one of my cousins.
I am asking for this for no special reason, as I would just love to have one. I know that I haven’t been the best of children, I know my grades are poor, and I know that I might as well get a lump of coal, but I’ve been trying. Even if you can’t get one for me, I would be very happy if you got my mother one. But, even though, I would be ecstatic if you would be so kind as to present one to me as well.
So, as to not bother you any further, I will end this letter. I am very grateful of you for reading this, and I wish you a very merry Christmas!

Yours truly,
Liliana Garcia

Holiday Customs

Many people celebrate Christmas and in many different ways. The general way to celebrate Christmas is to set up a tree and stockings for presents. But that's not all to it. The other details are what are interesting! Yo are probably used to the traditional opening of presents and eating a great feast, like I am, but some people do something different someplace else! Its amazing to know about what other people do for Christmas, like we do now! What they do every year on the 25 of December could be so unusual and different to us! Like what we call Santa. What we are used to is Santa Claus or Kris Kringle, but did you know that his name is Papai Noel in Brazil? Or that he is called Shengdan Laoren in China? In Chile they call him Viejo Pascuero and in Dutch his name is Sinter Klaas! In England Father Christmas and in Europe Saint Nicholas. There are a lot more out there but then that would probably take up the entire page! So you see, there are alot more customs to celebrating Christmas than what we are used to, and a lot more names for Santa than we would believe!
                                                                  Merry Christmas

Thanksgiving Day

Thanksgiving is a holiday where we share thanks, and show what we are thankful for. A popular tradition for this holiday is to roast turkey. This tradition was carried on from the time of the first feast by the Pilgrims and Native Americans.  They had a feast in thanks of their first full harvest in this new land.  The Pilgrims invited the Native Americans, who helped them in the harsh winter.  The turkey has been a tradition for a few reasons.  One reason is that it was served as the main dish for the Pilgrims first harvesting feast. Another reason could be that Benjamin Franklin called the turkey a 'respectable' bird. The last reason is that geese were very popular dishes in England, but there were not many in the New World, so they settled for turkey. These are some possible  reasons to why we eat turkey on Thanksgiving, but none are certain.

                                              Happy Thanksgiving Day!!!

Gratitude

I am grateful for my family and my friends. I am also thankful for the other things in my life. I am thankful for my electronics that I use everyday. I am grateful for my doctor and  my mother’s doctor, for helping us stay healthy. Lastly, I am grateful for my life, my freedom, my pride, my mistakes, and the love I receive each day.

Halloween!!!!!! ^_^

This Halloween, I was going to be a girl version of (yes, now you know its a guy) THE MAD HATTER!!!!! Yes, I was going to be the crazy, mad, awesome, creative... well you get the point. I was going to be the mad mad hatter. Now, I know you might be thinking, 'What in the world?????' well I just like the thought of being aloud to be crazy for one day.  I went shopping for this costume, but couldn't find it.  Instead I am going to be Athena, the Greek God of Wisdom. It is really fun and exciting that we get to be another person for a day, and how we get FREE CANDY just by asking people we barely (or don't) know. What kind of person would invent such a wonderful holiday???   Ye that's right, someone as mad as A GODDESS!!! TriCK Or TReAt.    o_0

Previously Deleted blogs

I made a mistake and deleted the blog posts.  My mom was able to get them back...

Reflecting on Ralph Fletcher
In Marshfield Dreams: When I Was a Kid by Ralph Fletcher, I got to experience new types of writing, as the author tells us about  his childhood. He is an excellent writer and his vignettes are superb.

In one vignette, Bobby, he writes "I tried to sneak past, but Bobby saw me and made a and made a loud sound, extending his little arms straight up into the air like, touchdown!  Which meant 'pick me up!' I'm a sucker for that move. No possible way I could ignore it."(Fletcher 2005 p.60). Here he really gets into how much he loved his brother. This excerpt reminded me of how much I used to love my god father who died also. It wasn't the same love as Ralph Fletcher had for his brother, but it was probably the same sadness.

In another, Last Kiss, he writes "My father and I had drifted away from each other in a small, but important way, a way that I couldn't explain, not even to myself."(Fletcher 2005, p.84) This one caught me, because this is the part of life where 'mommy' and 'daddy' are now mother and father. That's what you would call 'growing up by accident'.  I felt really bad for Ralph, because he felt what it was like to lose part of someone's love for you. in this case, his father's kisses. Like him, I don't get kisses every night, because now he lives in a house in Florida. I really miss him, but I still have 'mommy'.

This was a very interesting lesson, as now I know new ways to write!

My Kitty Cat
When I was younger, I was introduced to my mother's beanie baby collection which she got when she was about 21 years old.  I especially liked a brown cat with black and white patches whom was named 'Patch'.  I carried the kitten around everywhere and slept with it every night and would cry if I got it taken away or if I would have lost it. I would take it to school, where I would make paper food for Patch.  I would even give her baths while I was bathing, which caused all the shampoo to run out quickly.  I found that many other girls had beanie babies --like mine-- so we formed a club for girls that had beanie's only, and if anyone ever wanted to join, they'd have to show proof of a beanie.

It was really fun actually, pretending that our beanie animals could talk, and there were so many beanies brought into the club!  There were horses, bunnies, cats, dogs ans chickens; all kinds of animals made into these cute little toys you could play with!  It actually occurred to the boys that they would take animals and squish them into the beanie's that they were.  It was crazy, but we were only three year olds.

School
Today was particularly fun because we got to skip 1st English, and go with our guidance counselor for a little activity to get to know her more.

Hi Guys!

Does patriotism still matter?

Yes, patriotism still does matter.  Of course it does, who wouldn’t think that?  We should all respect the patriots, even if you don’t know any soldiers, it still matters. It may seem like they aren’t that important to your life, but they are.  They are the ones who give us freedoms, and who keep us safe.  They might not be able to help everyone at one time, but they sacrifice their LIVES for us. They risk it all to help complete strangers they don’t know an inch. It’s crazy that they do this, I know, but they do it so they can feel proud of themselves, or to protect family near a war going on.
It would be terrible if we didn’t have the soldiers who died for us, then we would be slaves, living under another person just so we could stay alive as much as they let us.  We shouldn’t live our lives not knowing what the soldiers are even doing.  It’s weird because they can do what we citizens do: work, play, eat and sleep.  Even if they have that chance to live their life the way we have it planned, they don’t.  They take that extra step, and take their chances so they can be different and to be respected.
The thing is that we are the reason they do.  WE are the reason they do what they do.  WE are what their motivation comes from, and we can’t just ignore that.  THEY are the reason we have freedom. THEY are our rescuers, and it DOES matter. We should be thinking about them all the time, day, night holiday, weekend, all of the time.  Whenever you see the stars and stripes, you should bow your head and give thanks to the soldiers who are fighting in this never-ending war of the people.
